Back to Normal!

First day of school.  I know I'm not the only one who is running this gauntlet today.  I fully prepared myself for lots of arguments and running behind and stress...

But none of that today.
The kids got up when I told them to.  They ate their breakfast quietly and without goofiness.  They brushed their teeth without being reminded three times.  And they put on their clothes without stopping to daydream.
We left the house exactly when I wanted to.  We arrived at the school before all the craziness so I could take my traditional photos near the school sign.  I had time to talk to each of their teachers, take more pics and visit with a few more moms before leaving for home.
I have never had such an easy-going first day of school.

My Bubba Dude is now a Fourth Grader.  I just can't get over the fact that year after next he will be in Junior High!!! I still have very vivid memories of taking him to his first day of kindergarden.  I was convinced that he was going to freak out, having never been to a daycare or preschool setting before.  He was perfectly fine.  Couldn't wait for me to leave.  I, on the other hand, had to stay outside the classroom because I was having an emotional breakdown.  I was shaking so bad I was afraid to drive home.

My Diva Princess is a Second Grader.  One of the best decisions my husband and I made was to have her take the Early Enrollment Test.  Her birthday is at the end of September so she misses the age cutoff for our school district.  I knew that waiting another year for kindergarden was just impossible.  She was too smart and would go out of her mind with boredom if she had to stay home.  So we pay for the test, of course she passes everything and so entered kindergarden at age four. I hope this year she will cut down on her gossiping.  She got into trouble more than once last year because of her gabbing.  What can I say? She is Miss Social Butterfly.

And now, my days are just me and The Dog.  I have many plans for myself this school year.  Let's see if I actually accomplish any of them...

Great pictures and congratulations on such a successful first day of school!! Way to go :) Doesn't it feel great and encouraging when all of your "mom-efforts" pay off :). Enjoy your day today.

Hooray for school! Micah went to school with no problems yesterday for his first day, too. I think he was just sick of his sisters.

Oh, to have an empty house! That would be divine. One of these years that will happen for me, but I will fill my every waking moment with school by then.

Don't even talk about your dear, sweet boy going to junior high! Live in 4th grade, for it will soon be gone and you will have on your hands a puberty ridden teenager!

Yay-way to go. It's cool you fought for your daughters rights to enroll early! You are already a mommy champion!

My hubbs had the grace to remind me on the first day of school, that in only 2 yrs ours will be a junior higher! What!? Seriously you needed to bring that to my attention on this day?! When our last is entering K and it's already an emotional day for the mom? I needed to realize this too?! Seriously.
